After months of rumours Ubisoft has finally confirmed that Zombi, a PS4, Xbox One and PC port of 2012’s Wii U launch title ZombiU, is going to arrive on 18 August.
The port is being developed by Straight Right, the same development studio behind the Wii U conversion of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut.
While the studio has teased that the game has been optimised to “bring gamers to a new level of horror,” it still isn’t clear as to how the next-gen hardware is being taken advantage of. We can only hope for an increase in resolution and perhaps even a steadying of the framerate.
Still, that isn’t what Straight Right needs to focus on. As I’m sure many of you remember, ZombiU featured pretty good GamePad functionality – which used the second screen to manage the player’s inventory and display a mini-map – though we have no idea as to how this will translate to second screen-less consoles.
Zombi, which sees players attempting to survive a zombie apocalypse in London with permadeath respawning players as a new character every time they die, won’t receive a physical release and will instead be digital only.
Zombi will launch on Xbox One, PS4 & PC 18 August.
